Speciality: Gynaecology - Specialising in the care of women during pregnancy and childbirth.  It also specializes in other women's health issues, such as menopause, hormone problems, contraception (birth control), and infertility.

Speciality: Plastics & ENT - We are a 15-bed ward specialising in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery. The wider department, also on level 11, incorporates an adult plastics dressing clinic, a minor operations theatre, an outpatients clinic, and a 24-hour fast-track ENT treatment room.

Speciality: Surgical - Acute Cardiac Unit - The Unit provides close monitoring and high-dependency care for a variety of cardiac conditions. This includes the emergency management of heart attacks and the immediate and long term management of other cardiac conditions, including heart failure and heart arrhythmias.

Speciality: Ambulatory Care Centre - Ambulatory care or outpatient care is medical care provided on an outpatient basis, including diagnosis, observation, consultation, treatment, intervention, and rehabilitation services. This care can include advanced medical technology and procedures even when provided outside of hospitals.

Transport: The Car Park is reached via Thomas Sawyer Way, Please used Trust post code WD18 0HB and not the car park is not accessible via Vicarage Road. The nearest train stations are Watford Junction, Watford High Street and Watford Met, all of these are within walking distance of the Trust.

Speciality: AMU W - The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is the first point of entry for patients referred to hospital as emergencies by their GP and those requiring admission from the Emergency Department.

Speciality: Clinical Decisions Unit - Designated area within the hospital that allow our providers to monitor and evaluate the medical condition of patients who do not meet criteria for inpatient admission but are not well enough to go home without require further observation.

Location: Green Zone, level 2 

Speciality: Cardiology - We deal with all conditions affecting the heart, including coronary artery disease (the cause of angina and heart attacks), heart valve disease, heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias), heart muscle problems (e.g. heart failure) and high blood pressure (hypertension). The department is led by a team of nine consultants, supported by a team of junior doctors and cardiac specialist nurses.

Speciality: Paediatric inpatient ward - This service is for children who are brought in by their families or ambulance and for children who are referred by another health professional, for example their GP.

Speciality: Maternity - Gloucester ward is a busy 27 bedded ward for mums and babies. There are three six-bedded bays, one four-bedded bay and five amenity/side rooms.

Location: Level 3 main corridor 

Speciality: Pathology - Histopathology (or histology) involves the examination of sampled whole tissues under the microscope

Location: Level 4 of the tower via lifts

Speciality: Theatres - We have operating theatres at the Lister hospital only, covering both inpatient and day surgery. Each year our team performs around 23,000 operations.

Location: Level 3 yellow Zone

Speciality: Outpatients - The part of the hospital designed for the treatment of outpatients, people with health problems who visit the hospital for diagnosis or treatment, but do not at this time require a bed or to be admitted for overnight care.

Location: Level 3 just past double doors on main corridor

Speciality: Pharmacy - pharmacy service has departments at the Lister and New QEII hospitals, as well as the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. Between them they provide a range of services for the Trust’s patients as well as in the case of the Lister team, for the mental health unit on the hospital site run by the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.  The same two pharmacy teams also provide services to some community hospitals and clinics, as well as to GPs

Location: Strathmore Wing Level 2

Speciality: Stroke - The team provides a hyper-acute service, along with continuing management of stroke patients – including thrombolysis, investigation, assessment and rehabilitation.  We also run a daily rapid access transient ischaemic attack (TIA) service/stroke prevention clinic at the Lister.

Speciality: X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI - Providing patients with X-rays, CT, MRI and ultrsound amongst other scans. We operate a GP walk in service, meaning there are no appointments needed

Location: Level 2 in the lifts via the tower

Speciality: Surgical - Surgical Assessment Unit -  The SAU assesses patients who have a confirmed or probable surgical condition. Patients are referred to us via their GP or are admitted via the Emergency Department

Speciality: Short Stay unit - The short stay unit (SSU) is a ward providing targeted care for patients requiring brief hospitalization and dischargeable as soon as clinical conditions are resolved.

Location: Purple Zone, level 5, treatment centre

Speciality: Treatment centre - Day surgery - patients who are admitted to hospital as an inpatient and who stay in the hospital for a particular surgery.

Transport: Outside the main building, on the left hand side as you enter the building. Before entering the main building, turn left out of the multi-storey, follow the path to the left
